BUENA VISTA TWP. - The St. Augustine Preparatory School baseball team had its 2023 campaign ended by Red Bank Catholic in the South Jersey Non-Public A semifinals.

The Hermits reached the sectional semifinals again on Thursday and were tasked with facing another Shore Conference powerhouse. St. Augustine outlasted Christian Brothers Academy, 3-1, in this year's South Jersey Non-Public A semifinal round to earn a playoff rematch with RBC in the sectional final. The Caseys will host St. Augustine on Saturday.

The Hermits were led on the mound by Villanova signee J.P. Podgorski in the win. The senior allowed only one run and three hits. He also struck out a season-high 11 batters.

"I felt really good on the mound today," Podgorski said. "I was able to get a lot of whiffs on the outside fastballs today, so I tried to work that part of the zone."
