CINNAMINSON - The Burlington Township High School football team clung to a handful of important accolades heading into its road trip to Cinnaminson. An undefeated regular season, an outright division title, the number one seed in the South/Central Group III bracket, and a shot at Steve Everette's first-ever undefeated regular season as a head coach.
The Falcons checked all of the boxes on their list, cruising past Cinnaminson, 21-0, behind the defense flexing its muscles and a late sign of life from the offense in the second half.
Aiden Binns powered the offense, running for 159 yards on 16 carries, finding the endzone once for the first score of the game. Despite running for over 159 yards, Binns was less than satisfied with his performance as well as the team's.
"We know we could've played so much better," Binns said. "I don't think I had a great game. I don't think I've played my best game yet this year, even though I ran for 300 yards before. I'm going to work on getting better, and I know the rest of the team is going to put the work in because we have something special going on here. The past few years, we've made the playoffs as a high seed but lost in the first round. We're going to make sure that changes this year."
The defense held Cinnaminson to just 45 total yards of offense for the entire game. In total, the Falcons racked up a pair of sacks, an interception from Keston Hyde, and a fumble recovery from Kyheem Freeman.
"We just come out every game and try to hold the other team to zero points," Hyde said. "We got the shutout, but we probably could've made a few more plays to stop them from getting big gains. For me to get the pick and make some big tackles, it felt great. I broke my ankle before last season, so I missed the entire year last year. Any time I touch the field, I'm trying to make plays."
With an undefeated regular season under its belt, Burlington Township turns its attention to the postseason, where the Falcons will presumably end up with the top overall seed in the South/Central Group III bracket.
