PINE HILL (N.J.) - After a blowout win against Buena, the Gloucester High School football set its sights on divisional foe Overbrook.
The Lions followed up their dominance against Buena with another blowout win over the Rams behind Mason Widman's huge day on the ground. Widman charted 11 rushes for 243 yards and a score in the 41-7 victory against Overbrook on Saturday.
"I really worked on my craft this offseason," Widman said. "I just want to make as many plays as I can to help us win. That's my goal every game."
Gloucester fired on all cylinders right out of the gate. It only took four plays for Jake Seibert to connect with Jaden Garris for a 34-yard touchdown put the Lions on the scoreboard.
Jake Zearfoss powered in for a touchdown on the following drive from a yard out.
Overbrook responded with a seven-yard touchdown run by DeAngello Conquest on a quarterback keeper on fourth down.
The Lions scored on three straight drives in the second quarter. Seibert connected with Justin Frazer twice and Joey MacDonald once to give Gloucester a 34-7 lead at halftime.
Neither team was able to put points on the board in the third quarter despite Overbrook putting together a 16-play drive that stalled in the red zone.
Widman put the game out of reach with a touchdown run late in the fourth quarter.
The Lions' defense dominated as well with Trevin Burkhardt and Garris each snaring an interception.

Widman has transitioned from last year's second option in the backfield to leading the team in rushing yards. The junior has 426 yards on the ground and has already matched his career high in touchdowns (4) from last season.
"He's matured in just about every facet," Gloucester coach Rob Bryan said. "He's going to be very crucial for us along the line. We're spoiled right now with two bell cow backs in our backfield."
