Eastern earns 20th win behind Damien Edwards’ 21 points against Rancocas Valley (PHOTOS)

MOUNT HOLLY — The Eastern High School boys basketball team improved its record to 20-3 with a 51-42 triumph over Rancocas Valley in an Olympic Conference American Division matchup on Tuesday night.


Senior Damien Edwards led the Vikings with a game-high 21 points, five rebounds, an assist and a block. Max Portnoy tallied six points, seven rebounds, six assists, a block and a steal. Coastal Carolina baseball commit Sam Winsett racked up 12 points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals. Brian Thiel finished with five rebounds off the bench.


Eastern reached 20 wins in a single season for the second year in a row. The Voorhees program will host Cherokee on Thursday night and Gloucester City in the first round of the Camden County Tournament on Saturday.


Antonio Brito and Edwin Hall each chipped in 11 points in the loss as Rancocas Valley dropped to 13-10. Harshpreet Singh finished with seven points. The Mount Holly program is scheduled to visit Lenape on Thursday night and host Bordentown in the Burlington County Tournament quarterfinals on February 12.
