Tanner Nolan dominates on the mound as Gloucester Catholic shuts out Washington Township

BROOKLAWN (N.J.) - Crowder College commit Tanner Nolan delivered a complete game shutout as the Gloucester Catholic High School baseball team defeated Washington Township, 3-0, in a Tri-County Conference Royal Division showdown on Wednesday.

Nolan allowed only two hits and no runs over seven innings. The senior struck out 12 batters in the victory.

"I have all of the faith in the world in my fielders and it makes my job easy," Nolan said. "Even though we were locked into a close game, I knew none of us were going to give up."

Gloucester Catholic was held without a hit until R.J. Mustaro roped a single with one out in the bottom of the fourth inning.

In the next inning, freshman nine-hole hitter Jason Bogart emerged as the hero on offense.

Bogart, the younger brother of 2022 Gloucester Catholic graduate and Rhode Island freshman Joey Bogart, lined a single to left field to score two runs and give the Rams a 2-0 lead. Miami commit Tate DeRias added a one-run single to make it 3-0.

Depth has been the name of Gloucester Catholic's pitching staff for the past few years. Wednesday's game was a different story. Rams coach Dennis Barth knew there was no pulling Nolan from the contest.

"He's been very reliable for us," Barth said. "Once he got settled in and started to deal, we knew there was no way he was coming out of this game."

Gloucester Catholic will play Shore Conference powerhouse Red Bank Catholic on Thursday.

"There's no shortage of talent on our schedule," Barth added. "I'm thankful we play in a conference and division that has a lot of talent. We also make sure to schedule teams out of conference that will give us a challenge and make things competitive."
