COLLINGSWOOD - Coming off of a win over conference rival Haddon Township, the Collingswood High School baseball team hosted another Colonial Conference foe, Gloucester, as passing rain showers created a muddy and slick playing surface.

The Panthers overcame both the weather and Gloucester with a 9-3 victory on Thursday.

"We had this game circled on our schedule as far as division opponents go," Collingswood coach Brad Kline said. "They're a very good program and getting a win today in these conditions is big for us."

The Collings Avenue program took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with a one-run single from John Antrilli. Miles DiVincentis reached base safely on an error that plated another run.

DiVincentis also kept the Lions' offense quiet on the pitcher's mound for the first three innings.

Gloucester scratched a run across in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI triple by Gavin Weiner. A few batters later, Ayden Daily drove a run in on a lawn dart between the second baseman and center fielder. The Lions tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the fifth inning as Mason Widman crossed home plate following a throwing error on his pursuit to steal third base.
