Haddonfield dominates rival Haddon Heights en route to victory in season opener

Haddon Heights (N.J.) - The Haddonfield Memorial High School boys basketball team dominated Haddon Heights, 46-18, in a Colonial Conference Liberty Division matchup on Thursday night.

Patrick Ryan and Matt Morris led the Haddons in scoring, both finishing with double figures. Ryan ended the night with 10 points while Morris posted a team-high 12 with a pair of triples. Sam Narducci also chipped in seven.

Haddonfield head coach Paul Wiedeman praised his young team for grinding out a win in a hostile environment.

"To come into Haddon Heights with the environment created, it's tough to win," Wiedeman said. "We had some good scrimmages, but now in a game to play defense like we did today was promising."

After a low-scoring first half generated a 20-10 lead for the Bulldogs at intermission, Wiedeman reminded his players to relax and to continue to move the ball around more and create additional looks.

Haddonfield returns only a few players who charted minutes for last season's sectional finalist squad. Ted Bond, Ryan, Narducci and Zach Langan are the only returnees that gained varsity experience last season.

"They finally got their feet wet in a game situation," Wiedeman said. "They know they can play varsity and gut out a win if needed."
