GLASSBORO - The Glassboro High School football team hadn't lost a game since a 24-6 loss to Mountain Lakes at Rutgers, giving the Lakers their first Group 1 state title in program history.
Since that loss on November 26, 2023, the Bulldogs have yet to lose a game, winning 25 straight contests. The most recent victory, a 44-8 rolling over Burlington City in the South/Central Group 1 state semifinal, punched Glassboro's ticket to the Group 1 state final in a rematch against Cedar Grove at Rutgers University on November 30.
Leading the way in Glassboro's thumping were the all-world Sabb brothers, Amari and Xavier.
Amari Sabb ran 14 times for 112 yards and two scores, while Xavier Sabb ran for a touchdown, caught one, and picked off a pass. JoJo DeLecce added 122 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown on the ground as well.
The Bulldogs' defense tallied 20 tackles for a loss as a unit, including five from Davon Barr and four from Junior Serrano alone.
Glassboro will square off with Cedar Grove in a rematch of last year's Group 1 state final, where the Bulldogs blew past the Panthers, 56-14, behind Monmouth running back Kenny Smith's record-shattering day running 20 times for 402 yards and four touchdowns.
