PINE HILL (N.J.) - After a long, rainy weekend at Overbrook High School, a champion was finally crowned.
The Clayton High School softball team defeated Lenape, 3-2, to be crowned the queen of the Battle of the Conferences Tournament hosted at Overbrook. Saint Joseph's commit Gianna Muhaw smashed a walk-off triple and teammate Tyanna Davis scored the game-winning run. The Lady Clippers improved their record to 7-1.
"This win means a lot to us," Muhaw said. "We showed that even though we look different on paper, we're still going to show up and take care of business."

Muhaw went 3-for-4 in the championship game with a single, a double, a triple and two runs batted in. Clayton pitcher Meadow Lake was stifling in the circle and limited Lenape to four hits and two earned runs. Lake struck out one hitter.
The Lady Clippers posted back-to-back shutouts to reach the tournament final with a 1-0 win over Sterling in the quarterfinals and a 4-0 decision over Gloucester Tech in the semifinals. Despite having to play three games in a single day due to inclement weather from the first day of the tournament, Clayton showed it could weather the storm.
"They're a really tough group of girls," Clayton coach Joe Moore said. " We're really young in some areas but the youth is catching up quick to the girls with experience and they're showing it on the field."
