Egg Harbor Township football makes statement in third consecutive road game

MULLICA HILL (N.J.) - In a battle of two undefeated teams in the young season, the Egg Harbor Township High School football team truged through adversity to come out victorious over Clearview, 29-20.

The Eagles went down early, took the lead about halfway through the game, then fought off a valiant comeback in the final minutes. For Egg Harbor Township, it's been a familiar theme to load up the buses and travel to their opponents. To start the 2026 season, the Eagles have had to hit the road in their victories over Robbinsville, Lower Cape May, and now Clearview, totaling over 300 miles of travel up and back to each school.

"We'll go anywhere and play anyone," Egg Harbor coach Rob Davis said. "The first three games of the season we've had to play on the road, and we've won every game so far. I think it's rewarding that the boys get to finally play a home game in front of our home crowd next week. We're expecting a big crowd because the community is eager to finally host a game this season."

Clearview opened the scoring with one of Robert Seney's three touchdowns on the ground. Egg Harbor Township responded with 21 unanswered points courtesy of a pair of Andrew Ollek rushing touchdowns and Jahiyd McClellan snatching a quick pass and scurrying into the end zone from 18 yards out.

Egg Harbor Township had a big chance to swing momentum their way heading into halftime but senior tight end Jake Lund nixed the effort with a fumble. When his number was called again in the final minutes of the game, the Buffalo commit Lund caught the same pass in the same section of the field, but this time broke a tackle and rumbled into the end zone to ice the game and keep Egg Harbor Township undefeated.

"I know I should've made that play," Lund said. "I'm grateful that my teammates had my back, and I knew if I got my number called again, I'd make the play needed. It was pretty much the same exact scenario as before, but the second time around I just shed the tackle and knew I was gone. I'm hype to finally play in front of our home crowd next week and we're gonna put on for our community."

Josh Colella has been a key part of the offensive success for the Eagles so far. The junior has already eclipsed the halfway mark of his yards last season through the air, totaling 545 yards passing. So fair in his second year starting, Colella has completed 35 of his 51 passing attempts tossing five touchdowns to just one interception. In Egg Harbor's win over Clearview, the junior was 14-for-21 for 230 yards and two touchdowns.
