MEDFORD - Judah Hidalgo's father is the head coach of the powerhouse Paul VI High School girls' basketball program.

His sister is one of the top college basketball players in the nation as a freshman at Notre Dame.

It was time he put his stamp on Paul VI basketball.

Hidalgo did just that as the Eagles dominated from start to finish in their 53-35 victory over Union Catholic in the South Jersey Non-Public A final at Lenape High School on Monday night. Paul VI secured its first sectional crown since 1988.

The junior finished with a game-high 15 points, six rebounds and three assists. Hidalgo drained consecutive 3-pointers in the first quarter to give the Eagles an 8-0 lead and force a timeout by the Vikings. Paul VI scored the first 10 points of the game and opened the contest on a 16-4 run.

"I'm always hearing about my sister, which I love to hear, but it feels good to get my name out there," Hidalgo said. "It's great. I'm blessed to have a great sister and for me to be able to perform at a high level."
