First 2008 D2 Champion: Bloomsburg
The Bloomsburg University Huskies won the 2007 NCAA Division II field hockey championship with a 5-2 win over UMass-Lowell (UML). The NCAA title was the 14th for head coach Jan Hutchinson. It was also the second straight title for Bloomsburg, the fifth in the last six years and ninth in the last 12. The game was also a bit of revenge for the Huskies who were beaten by UML in the 2005 NCAA title game. Offensively, Bloomsburg finished the year with 132 goals scored, smashing the previous record of 108 goals scored. Named to the All-Tournament team from Bloomsburg were Ashley Heckard, Jamie Vanartsdalen, Whitney Miller and Chelsea Due. Vanartsdalen ends her season with 35 goals and 19 assists for 89 points. The 35 goals are a new Division II single-season record as are her 89 points.
