#7 NEBRASKA-OMAHA MAVERICKS

A LATE FIELD GOAL against fellow North Central Conference Co-Champion North Dakota ended the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks successful 2006 season. UNO will attempt to make it four consecutive NCC titles during the last season of the conference. The Mavericks have been accepted into the MIAA and will join in 2008. Hoping to improve upon last years 8-3 record, the offense will be led by senior All-American offensive tackle Ben Hochstein and All-NCC quarterback Zach Miller. Hochstein will be a four-year starter in the offensive line and was named the North Central Conference’s most valuable offensive lineman. Junior All-NCC defensive back Reed Taylor and senior All-NCC second team selection Randy Kush will anchor the defense. Head Coach Pat Behrns was named NCC Coach of Year last season, his fourth time to receive the award. He will be in his 14th season as the head coach with a 95-52 record at UNO and a 131-79 record in 17 seasons as a collegiate head coach. The Mavs season starts on-the-road against Nebraska-Kearney (RMAC) before hosting the showdown with 2006 national runner-up Northwest Missouri State (MIAA). Then the NCC schedule is highlighted by a mid-season clash at North Dakota and hosting South Dakota in late October.
