Tigers Continue Dominance of Women’s Outdoor Track

THE LINCOLN UNIVERSITY WOMEN’S Outdoor Track team has continued their dominance in NCAA Division II by claiming the 2007 national title. Lincoln’s women have not lost an outdoor title since capturing their first championship five years ago. In the final standings, the Tigers had 82.5 points with Abilene Christian (69), St. Augustine’s (68), Angelo State (52) and Grand Valley State (40) rounding out the top finishers.
This year Davita Prendergast got wins in the 200m and 400m dash while Carla Thomas picked up first place in the 400m hurdles and second in the 100m hurdles. They also ran legs on the winning 4X400 meter relay team which set a new meet record. Prendergast was the defending champion in the 400m and finished just .02 seconds short of setting a new meet record. Several athletes became double champions during the three day event. Grand Valley State’s Mandi Zemba also won two championships. After defending her title and setting a meet record in winning the 3000m run Friday, she returned to the track and successfully defended her 5000m title Saturday afternoon. Lincoln’s women won their fourth 4X400m relay in the last five years.
