Florida Southern Wins D2 Women’s Golf Title

FLORIDA SOUTHERN HAS WON their fourth national title since 2000 by holding off four-time defending champion Rollins at the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championships in Pensacola, Florida. The top ranked Lady Mocs lead after each day of competition but did give up a few strokes of their sizable lead on the final day only to defeat Rollins College by 10 strokes. Ferris State, Drury, and Tartleton State rounded out the Top 5. Daniela Iacobelli of Florida Tech was the D2 Individual Champion edging out Maria Garcia Austt of Nova Southeastern by 1 stroke.
The National Golf Coaches Association named Lady Mocs Coach Robbie Davis as D2 Coach of the Year and the 2007 National Champions were led by four All-Americans. This is Florida Southern’s 26th D2 National Title with 11 in men’s golf, nine is baseball, four in women’s golf, one men’s basketball and one in softball.
